When TSH crosses 100, the gland that is failing may not be the only one.
Many patients will visit your chamber carrying their thyroid reports. They will place the papers on your desk, look at you, and say:
“Sir, my thyroid levels are high β please prescribe a treatment.”
You review the report. The TSH reads 132 mIU/mL β an extremely elevated level. You order Anti-TPO antibodies and Anti-Thyroglobulin antibodies for further evaluation, and you reach for the prescription pad to start Levothyroxine.
